Slack
Connect a Slack workspace so your apps can post messages, send notifications, and react to messages, mentions, and button clicks.
Apps can post into Slack channels and react to messages, mentions, reactions and button clicks. Stardeck holds the bot token and brokers every call. See Connected Services for the shared model.

Connect a workspace
Open Integrations
In the organization dashboard, go to Settings → Integrations and expand Slack.
Add to Slack
Click Add to Slack, pick a workspace and approve the permissions. Slack sends you back and the workspace appears in the list.
Grant it to apps
A connection does nothing until an app is granted it. Grant it to each app and set a default. See Grant a connection to your apps.
You can add more than one workspace. Each is its own connection.
- Re-authorize: if a connection shows Invalid or Revoked, click the re-authorize icon next to Grants. Grants and defaults are kept.
- Disconnect: the trash icon removes the connection. Apps using it stop sending and receiving through that workspace.
Receive events (optional)
Sending works without this. Slack sends events to Stardeck through the Stardeck Slack app you added, so there is nothing to set up in Slack. To have an app react to them, open the app's Settings → Integrations tab and, under Event Forwarding on the Slack connection, add the deployments that should receive its events (for example the sandbox while you build and production when you go live). Your coding agent can add these over Stardeck's MCP server after you confirm.
Events forwarded to your app:
| Event | When |
|---|---|
| Messages | Someone posts in a channel your bot is in |
| Mentions | Someone @mentions your bot |
| Reactions | An emoji reaction is added or removed |
| Button clicks, form submits | Someone interacts with a message or modal your app posted |
| Membership changes | People join or leave channels |
When several apps share a workspace, only the deployments you add receive its events.
Slack only sends events from channels the bot is in, and the bot can only post to private channels it's a member of. Invite the Stardeck bot where needed.
Example prompts
Ask your coding agent in your app's repository, or describe it in the app's Build tab. See Build features.
